Keep the kids entertained
Family holidays don’t need to be over-planned. Some of the easiest days are the ones with plenty of space, fresh air and time to play.
Playgrounds, picnic areas, beaches, ocean pools and open parks give families room to move without needing a formal activity. Bring snacks, water bottles, hats and a few simple games and you’re set for a relaxed day out.
Ideas to try:
- Visit a playground near the beach.
- Swim at a patrolled beach or visit an aquatic centre. Local tip: Nambour Aquatic Centre has a splash park and adventure slides.
- Pack an easy picnic and find a shady spot to refuel.
- Bring the bikes or scooters and let the kids burn off some holiday energy along bike-friendly paths or at one of our 32 skate parks.
- Explore rockpools by the beach or crystal-clear waterfalls in the hinterland. Local tip: Shelly Beach has rockpools teeming with marine life, a playground and shaded picnic facilities.
- Take the little ones to Nelson Park, Alexandra Headland. This shaded, fully fenced playground includes accessible ramps, slides, interactive panels, musical equipment, hammock swings, communication boards, picnic facilities and barbecues.
