Catch a sunrise, sunset or star-filled sky

Some of the most memorable Sunshine Coast experiences happen at the beginning or end of the day.

Wake up early to watch the sun rise over the ocean, head to a scenic lookout at sunset or simply find a quiet spot along the beach and enjoy the changing colours of the sky.

If you're staying a little longer, consider heading inland after dark to experience the region's incredible night skies. The Sunshine Coast Hinterland is recognised as a Dark Sky Reserve, making it one of the best places to enjoy stargazing away from city lights.

Ideas to try:

  • Watch sunrise from the beach.
  • Enjoy sunset from a coastal lookout.
  • Take an evening walk along the shoreline of Mooloolaba and stay for a picnic or fish and chips as the sun goes down.
  • Spend time stargazing on a clear night. Local tip: visit Isaac Moore Park at Kenilworth.
