Mooloolaba Esplanade Caravan Park

The small ocean front Mooloolaba Caravan Park will officially close on 1 July 2017 when the last caravan departs from the 34 site caravan park.

Sunshine Coast Council has adopted a Place Making Mooloolaba Master plan that will see the former caravan park eventually developed into public space to cater for major events and also provide a "Great Ocean Walk" boardwalk, linking Mooloolaba to Alexandra Headland.

The use of the site for caravans, and earlier tents, dates back to the 1920's. With the opening of the Bruce Highway through to Eumundi in 1934, saw a significant improvement for vehicle access from Brisbane to the North Coast and increased popularity of camping and caravanning of the Mooloolaba and other Sunshine Coast destinations.

In 1972 the current amenity building and bitumen road was constructed formalising the layout of the caravan park. The rock sea wall was also constructed around this time.

However the caravan park site was never gazetted as a Camping Reserve and has been operating for the past 10 years on a Commercial Term lease from the Qld Government. The lease expires on 30 June 2017.

Over the years many families have enjoyed the Mooloolaba Caravan Park. Council has recently developed and expanded Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park with the opening in December 2016 of an additional 46 powered sites.

Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park Improvements

Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park Improvements

On the green theme the pool at Mudjimba has had a revamp with artificial turf installed in the pool surrounds. It looks great - just in time for a winter dip. I dare you...

Additionally our new area has just had an upgrade with 6 grass sites converted to slabs. On the park map sites 189 to 194 now have slabs and are suitable for up to 28 foot vans. This area is great to catch the winter sun as it is not impacted by trees, and still close to the beach. There are still short and long term sites available over winter. Mudjimba also has a big screen and we look forward to hosting football matches as the AFL and NRL seasons progress to the finals.
